When her family returned to the Rogue Valley at age 12, she found a new way to explore her love for the water: competitive swimming. She loved swimming because of the friends she made and the focus and drive it gave her. It taught her that good things come from hard work. Her favorite strokes were freestyle and backstroke, and her favorite events were the 100 and 200-yard backstroke and the 200 and 500-yard freestyle.

Although the Covid 19 pandemic disrupted Madi’s competitive swimming career during her high school years, she has continued to stay engaged with the sport. She has always had a love for teaching, and is currently working to become a high school math and physics teacher. She is able to combine her love for teaching and swimming as assistant coach for the Rogue Rapids and the North Medford High School swim team. Madi is excited and motivated to help young swimmers not only grow, learn, and develop within the sport, but help them grow as people as well.
